Faithful Counseling combines traditional therapy with Christian perspectives and Biblical wisdom. The degree to which faith plays a role in your therapy sessions can be discussed with your therapist and is entirely up to you. All of Faithful Counseling’s therapists are fully licensed, and sessions can be conducted by phone, video, or messaging. Pricing is on par with competitors, and financial aid is available to those who meet the requirements.
Your journey with Faithful Counselling starts with a quick questionnaire. It includes questions about issues you might be experiencing, like trouble concentrating or panic attacks, but also questions about your faith: whether you identify as a Christian, your denomination, how long your spirituality has been important for you, and how often you pray. You can even choose how great of a role you’d like faith to play in your therapy.
The full questionnaire takes just a few minutes to complete, and the company has done a good job of balancing simplicity with personalization. The questions were easy to understand, and in many cases, you can select several answers to build a profile that best describes your personal experience.
After confirming your email address, you also have the opportunity to write a few sentences explaining why you’re seeking counseling and what issues you’d like to address.
This information is used to match you to a counselor. Based on our own experience and that of other customers, these tend to be very successful matches. Very rarely, some customers found that they didn’t feel quite right with their first counselor or that a request wasn’t honored (like asking for a male candidate). If that’s the case, though, you can simply reach out to Faithful Counselling to be matched to any one of the other 10,000 licensed counselors. Matching can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days.
Once you’ve been matched with a therapist, you can set up your first video or telephone appointment or simply send them a message.
There’s no limit to the number of messages you can send per week, and you can read through your full chat history at any time. This is a great feature and one of the main advantages of online therapy. You can use it to check your progress, keep a record of your thoughts and feelings, and reference previous guidance you received.
Phone and video chat sessions need to be arranged in advance. For the phone option, simply enter your phone number when prompted and your therapist will call you. For video chat, simply accept the video request by logging into your therapy room at the appropriate time. Like messaging, there’s no limit on the number of phone or video calls you can make, although realistically, most therapists will only be able to accommodate one, sometimes two, per week.
If you or a person you know is in danger of harm, call 1-800-273-8255 in the US or your national mental health hotline. If you are unsure of whom to contact, call the police (911 in the US, 112 in Europe).
Faithful Counseling is part of the BetterHelp family, meaning it has a large pool of fully licensed therapists to draw upon. All therapists are licensed and accredited psychologists (PhD or PsyD), licensed marriage or family therapists (LMFT), clinical social workers (LCSW / LMSW) or professional therapists (LPC), qualified to practice by their state’s professional board and screened for at least 3 years and 1,000 hours of experience.
Faithful Counseling’s therapists are specialized in a variety of specific issues, including the following:
-Stress
-Anxiety
-Relationships
-Parenting
-Depression
-Addictions
-Eating disorders
-Trouble Sleeping and Sleep Disorders
-Trauma
-Anger
-Family conflicts
-LGBT matters
-Grief counseling
-Religion
-Self-esteem
Therapists in Pride Counseling’s network will be able to address these issues whether they relate to your identity or not. For example, many LGBTQ+ individuals experience generalized anxiety, unrelated to their identity, while others experience anxiety due to confusion or apprehension about their identity or their place in the world. Both are legitimate reasons to seek help and require therapists with different areas of expertise.
Faithful Counseling is an excellent solution for individuals looking to marry Christian faith and therapy in a structured and accessible way.
However, that doesn’t mean that your religious beliefs need to feature heavily in your counseling sessions. It’s up to you to decide the right balance by answering questions on the sign-up form and discussing the issue with your therapist.
Whether you are religious or spiritual, deeply devout, or simply curious about how faith can fit into therapy, Faithful Counseling offers a range of counseling options, including traditional therapy from a Christian perspective, spiritual advice on questions of faith, or a mix of the two.
Faithful Counseling is priced weekly and billed monthly.
The final rate depends on your location and preferences and the availability of therapists. It will be provided once you’ve filled out the questionnaire and created your account.
Faithful Counseling also offers financial aid for those who cannot afford therapy. You can apply directly from the website by providing your employment status and that of your spouse (if applicable), your (combined) earnings, and children and dependents.
Subscriptions renew automatically each month and can be canceled at any time.
